2003 Week 17

1. Da Bears! (16-0, last week: 1)...They finished unbeaten behind Matt Suhey's 3 rushing TDs.

2. The Fins! (14-2, last week: 3)...They have their running game back on solid footing and locked up home field in the AFC playoffs.

3. Denver (13-3, last week: 2)...Looks like they will have to go back through MIA to get to the Super Bowl.

4. San Francisco (13-3, last week: 5)...I guess they took out some frustration from last week's loss on STL.

5. Green Bay (11-5, last week: 6)...They didn't beat CHI, but they still got a home playoff game with NO's loss to BUF.

6. New England (10-6, last week: 4)...This week's loss put them on the road to IND.

7. New York Giants (7-9, last week: 7)...PHI started their losing streak and now PHI has ended it too.

8. New York Jets (6-10, last week: 9)...Well, they finished on a high note but they lost out on the booby prize.

9. Minnesota [4-11, last week: 8]...Back in the basement again. Better luck next year!

2003 Week 16

1. Da Bears! (15-0, last week: 1)...One more win at home and they'll have a perfect regular season.

2. Denver (12-3, last week: 4)...They stopped MIA at the 4 yard line and are still alive for home field advantage.

3. The Fins! (13-2, last week: 3)...All the rain at home had their running game slipping, but they should do better in the dome this week.

4. New England (10-5, last week: 5)...Their defense shut down SF and put themselves in the playoffs.

5. San Francisco (12-3, last week: 2)...They didn't have anything to play for in NE, and it showed.

6. Green Bay (11-4, last week: 6)...If they lose and NO wins, they will be going on the road in the playoffs.

7. New York Giants (6-9, last week: 7)...They have lost 5 in a row now, but at least they are playing it close.

8. Minnesota [4-11, last week: 8]...Winning 2 in a row is now just a distant memory for them (Week 1 and 2).

9. New York Jets (5-10, last week: 9)...They have lost 6 in a row now, and have the longest current losing streak in the VFL.

2003 Week 15

1. Da Bears! (14-0, last week: 1)...They are NFC Central Champions as Walter Payton goes over 2000 yards for the season.

2. San Francisco (12-2, last week: 2)...They almost stumbled with DET at home and now they face playoff-hungry NE on the road.

3. The Fins! (13-1, last week: 4)...They found the fix for their offense: Eddie George (4 rushing TDs, and 200+ yards).

4. Denver (11-3, last week: 3)...This time they'll put their 18th ranked run defense against the 3rd best rushing team. Could be trouble.

5. New England (9-5, last week: 6)...They just have to win 1 of the next 2 games to guarantee themselves a playoff spot. First one at home.

6. Green Bay (10-4, last week: 5)...Their defense did fine but their offense failed to show up against CHI. Better bring it for TEN this week.

7. New York Giants (6-8, last week: 7)...Their season is done, but they could play spoiler to KC's slim chances of making the playoffs.

8. Minnesota (4-10, last week: 9)...With nothing to gain, they knocked off the AFC Central division leader anyway.

9. New York Jets [5-9, last week: 8]...Only 7 points in each of the last 3 games has put them in the running for the VFL booby prize.

2003 Week 14

1. Da Bears! (13-0, last week: 1)...They can win their division this week in GB with a win.

2. San Francisco (11-2, last week: 3)...They are the NFC West Champions and are ahead of GB for the bye week.

3. Denver (10-3, last week: 4)...They'll put their #4 defense up against the #2 offense this week in NYG.

4. The Fins! (12-1, last week: 2)...The Raiders may be the wake up call they need to fix a struggling offense.

5. Green Bay (10-3, last week: 5)...Now comes the real test, 2 of 3 games against CHI!

6. New England (8-5, last week: 6)...I think the driver's seat is getting a little uncomfortable with 5 teams breathing down your neck.

7. New York Giants (6-7, last week: 7)...They couldn't stop ARI and now they have to face 3 teams fighting for the playoffs.

8. New York Jets [5-8, last week: 8]...8-8 could make the playoffs, but it is hard to see how they could win the next 3 games.

9. Minnesota (3-10, last week: 9)...This week could be their last chance to beat a team above .500.

2003 Week 13

1. Da Bears! (12-0, last week: 1)...They are back on top in offense and still #1 on defense.

2. The Fins! (12-0, last week: 2)...Eddie George was MVP this week, as their passing game was shut down by NO.

3. San Francisco (10-2, last week: 3)...One down, one to go for the division crown, which they should win in CAR.

4. Denver (9-3, last week: 4)...KC will be mad, but DEN should win, maybe, by a whisper, in a prayer.

5. Green Bay (9-3, last week: 5)...The defense flexed their muscles by shutting down PHI and they should continue in TB.

6. New England (8-4, last week: 6)...They got a scare in BUF, but now they are in the driver's seat for the wild card.

7. New York Giants (6-6, last week: 7)...They might be able to catch NO (who face DAL) if they can beat ARI this time.

8. New York Jets [5-7, last week: 8]...SEA is one of the teams they need to catch, so this is a must win.

9. Minnesota (3-9, last week: 9)...They scored the most points against CHI (13) of any team this year the last time they played.

2003 Week 12

1. Da Bears! (11-0, last week: 1)...They lost the best offense, but they should still wipe out TB.

2. The Fins! (11-0, last week: 2)...With Eddie George out, they ran over NE. Just think what they'll do with him back.

3. San Francisco (9-2, last week: 3)...They have almost locked up the NFC West. These next 2 games could put it away.

4. Denver (8-3, last week: 4)...6 in a row! Scared of this one. Could they over look SD this week?

5. Green Bay (8-3, last week: 6)...They lit up the skies against MIN, now they have to go into 8-3 PHI.

6. New England (7-4, last week: 5)...Looks like they'll have to settle for a wild card spot as they try to stay ahead of IND (6-5).

7. New York Giants (6-5, last week: 7)...They lost the magic, and now they are going to need some help to make the playoffs.

8. New York Jets [5-6, last week: 8]...I think their hole is now a grave. They may have lost their playoff chances in TEN.

9. Minnesota (3-8, last week: 9)...Well, it couldn't last. Their one game win steak is over and so is their season (almost).

2003 Week 11

1. Da Bears! (10-0, last week: 2)...They should stay on top for at least 3 weeks with games against teams who are 11-19.

2. The Fins! (10-0, last week: 1)...Eddie George went out and they had to come from behind to win this last one.

3. San Francisco (8-2, last week: 3)...They stumbled in ATL and now have to win against NO to hold their NFC West lead.

4. Denver (7-3, last week: 5)...5 straight wins has put them in the drivers seat, and this week should make 6.

5. New England (7-3, last week: 6)...MIA is wounded, so this is their best chance to knock off the division leaders.

6. Green Bay (7-3, last week: 4)...They better not look past MIN, they'll need this one to stay in the playoff hunt.

7. New York Giants (6-4, last week: 7)...Another shocker, but can they keep it going in PHI?

8. New York Jets [5-5, last week: 8]...They have dug themselves a big hole with losing to IND, can they climb out on the road?

9. Minnesota (3-7, last week: 9)...VIKINGS WIN! VIKINGS WIN! VIKINGS WIN! VIKINGS WIN!...finally.

2003 Week 10

1. The Fins! (9-0, last week: 1)...Eddie George filled in nicely, but their defense is getting a little sloppy.

2. Da Bears! (9-0, last week: 2)...They crushed the Lions last time, and we don't expect any different this week.

3. San Francisco (8-1, last week: 3)...They are still the best in the west, but can they keep it going in ATL?

4. Green Bay (7-2, last week: 4)...One down and 2 to go in their 3 game road tour. This week it's NYG.

5. Denver (6-3, last week: 5)...If they can win in KC, they'll be in first in the AFC West!

6. New England (6-3, last week: 6)...They lost 3 in a row to AFC East teams, can they break the streak in BUF?

7. New York Giants [5-4, last week: 8]...They shocked DAL, but it doesn't get any easier with GB and PHI coming up.

8. New York Jets (5-4, last week: 7)...Their first win was against IND, but this time they'll have to win on the road.

9. Minnesota (2-7, last week: 9)...Interestingly, they are 2nd in 4th down conversion % to CIN (who they play this week).

2003 Week 9

1. The Fins! (8-0, last week: 1)...They may have won the game, but they lost Ricky Williams in the process.

2. Da Bears! (8-0, last week: 2)...They didn't play and they still pulled away from GB.

3. San Francisco (7-1, last week: 4)...Who needs to pass when you have Sanders and Bettis?

4. Green Bay (6-2, last week: 3)...Ok, they are not better than SF yet, maybe they can practice run defense in PIT.

5. Denver (5-3, last week: 7)...They are still winning with defense which should be enough to beat SD.

6. New England (5-3, last week: 5)...3 straight losses has dropped them from 1 to 6 in the rankings.

7. New York Jets (4-4, last week: 6)...The streak stops at 3 in KC, but maybe they can start again in BUF.

8. New York Giants [4-4, last week: 8]...They hung on to beat WAS in Washington, but now they have to go into DAL.

9. Minnesota (2-6, last week: 9)...They are not winning, but they are hanging in there.

2003 Week 8

1. Dolphins (7-0, last week: 1)...They recorded their 3rd shutout of the season by pounding NE!

2. Da Bears! (8-0, last week: 2)...Well, we think they won't win this week but who knows with this powerhouse.

3. Green Bay (6-1, last week: 3)...Here is their chance to prove they are better than SF.

4. San Francisco (6-1, last week: 5)...Things are looking good, but can they win on the road in GB?

5. New England (5-2, last week: 4)...We didn't think they'd win, but we thought they would score, guess not.

6. New York Jets (4-3, last week: 6)...3 in a row! Can they make it 4 in KC? Maybe, if they get those turnovers.

7. Denver (4-3, last week: 7)...Their defense is improving and they will need it to catch KC.

8. New York Giants [3-4, last week: 8]...Their bye week put a hold on their losing streak, and they'll try to break it in WAS.

9. Minnesota (2-5, last week: 9)...I remember when they were 2-0. I hope they like the #9 spot for a while.

2003 Week 7

1. Miami (6-0, last week: 3)...The fins are back on top. It is hard to believe they had to come from behind against STL.

2. Da Bears! (7-0, last week: 2)...DAL slowed them down, but these aren't the Cubs and they didn't choke.

3. Green Bay (5-1, last week: 5)...Their offense is still improving but they may have to wait til CHI's bye week to gain any ground.

4. New England (5-1, last week: 1)...Ouch! Losing to NYJ at home has got to hurt. Maybe they were looking ahead to MIA. Yikes!

5. San Francisco (5-1, last week: 4)...I guess someone forgot to tell their run game to show up. Don't forget to bring it to STL.

6. New York Jets [3-3, last week: 8] ...I told you this team could be dangerous! Can they keep it going against ATL?

7. Denver (3-3, last week: 6)...With half of our teams losing this week, maybe it was a good time for their bye.

8. New York Giants (3-4, last week: 7)...Losing 2 in a row at home was not how they wanted to go into their bye week.

9. Minnesota (2-4, last week: 9)...They didn't quite get things fixed over their break

2003 Week 6

1. New England (5-0, last week: 3)...They lit up the skies against KC; bring on the Jets!

2. Da Bears! (6-0, last week: 1)...They have only beated one team who is above .500 (so far); DAL will be a real test.

3. Miami (5-0, last week: 2)...JAX revealed some holes in their run defense, but the offense and special teams are rolling.

4. San Francisco (5-0, last week: 4)...An improving offense is keeping them on the winning track.

5. Green Bay (4-1, last week: 5)...The bye week only cost them a half game to CHI.

6. Denver [3-3, last week: 8] ...A good week in SEA pulls them back into 2nd in the AFC West.

7. NY Giants (3-3, last week: 6)...Their offense stalled and the defense isn't stopping anyone.

8. NY Jets (2-3, last week: 9)...They found enough offense to get past STL; this week they'll need more in NE.

9. Minnesota (2-3, last week: 7)... Hopefully they enjoyed their time off.

2003 Week 5

1. Da Bears! (5-0) ...One of their weaker efforts still crushed the Lions, and it only gets easier with ARI this week.

2. Miami (4-0) ... No rust from their bye week, and they should continue to roll in JAX.

3. New England (4-0) ... This week we find out if KC is for real as 2 unbeatens go head to head.

4. San Francisco (4-0) ... They gave up the yards against BUF but not the points, and they'll do the same in NO.

5. Green Bay (4-1) ... A well-deserved week of rest for a team that is spinning straw into green and gold.

6. NY Giants (3-2) ... Their high-powered offense is keeping them nipping at the Cowboys' heels.

7. Minnesota (2-3) ... Maybe they can use the bye week to plug the holes on defense.

8. Denver (2-3) ... Losing at home hurts, now we'll see if they can turn it around in SEA.

9. NY Jets (1-3) ... If they had an offense, this team could be dangerous.
